LaTocha Scott : Xscape

🔥 Project Overview

This cinematic expressive short video stars LaTocha Scott, the powerhouse singer of Xscape, in a symbolic journey through isolation, oppression, and ultimately—rebirth. Shot in a sprawling desert under searing light, LaTocha moves from chained restraint to spiritual release, portraying the internal battles women fight to free themselves from what binds them.

The visuals are raw and powerful. The styling, mythic. And her voice? A weapon in motion.

🎬 Creative Direction

This wasn’t just a video—it was a visual parable. From wardrobe to post, every element carried metaphor and heat.

Creative Themes:

  • Shackles of silence and conformity

  • Wilderness as metaphor for transformation

  • Movement as prayer and protest

  • Gold-tone grade to echo divine struggle and inner fire

🎥 Production Notes

Filmed over a single shoot day in the Nevada desert, this was an exercise in minimalism with meaning. No elaborate sets—just light, shadow, and story.

  • Handheld, Tripod & gimbal rigs for kinetic, intimate framing

  • Custom wardrobe, Makeup/Glam and prop chains designed for symbolic weight

💬 Director’s Note

“We didn’t just want to shoot anything—we wanted to capture a spiritual break. LaTocha gave us everything: strength, surrender, power. This is what it looks like when a voice turns into vision.”
